Ramdung Peak Climbing

Ramdung Go lies in the upper Rolwaling region south of Na. It is also one of the most excellent peaks for climbing surrounding the Yalung La. The peak was first conquered in 1952 by a team of Bill Murray. The normal route to this peak through the glaciers of North East face is straightforward. Ramdung (5930m) peak is situated to the south of Na in the upper Rolwaling area. It is also called Ramdung Go. The peaks in the area were first explored by Scottish Himalayan Expedition led by Bill Murray in 1952. The team climbed three of the peaks Yalung Ri (5,630m/18,471ft), Chhugyima Go (6,259m/20,534ft), and Ramdung at a time. It was in 1955 the second ascent was made by the members of the Merseyside Expedition in this peak. Since then Ramdung peak has been climbed several times by several teams. No doubt, the peak is an ideal summit for groups aspiring to trek and climb in the less visited Rolwaling Himal region. This trek provides an access to upper Rolwaling from the south via the Khare Khola. The peak offers a panoramic view of mountain ranges from Langtang to Everest and also a splendid view of Gauri Shankar and Menlungtse.
